Five Things Friday: Another Week closer to Comfort

When I think of going back home I feel a sense comfort, the ability to be around family, my friends and my routine. 

Ah routine, the thing that by letting go finally gave me my life back. As much as I love having the same schedule everyday i know that when going back home I can’t won’t allow myself to slump back into those strict habits. 

By being spontaneous and accepting opportunities as they have been presented I’ve been able to see that there’s a whole other girl that’s been hidden inside of me for so long. 

So back to comfort… I’m not even sure what that word means in my life anymore considering the amount of change I’ve been going through lately; mentally and physically of course. 

Comfort can be food which I seem to have resorted to being lots and lots of carbs 

Comfort can be the place we call home; but where is home when you’re an expat? 

Comfort can be knowing you have support when the the times get tough 

Comfort can also mean change. 

Five things i ate 

Cherry Clafoutis has become my favourite summertime dessert and I plan to bring to recipe back to my parents restaurant! It’s pretty much an upside down cherry cake but with a pancake like batter so it’s light and fluffy! That being said there’s a lot of sugar in it!

Since I’m working all day everyday up until the day I leave my host dad came and friended my girl and I lunch! He knew I loved eggs a and cheese so I got a Quiche Lorraine fresh from the bakery! Who can turn down something so good!


More free time means more baking time for me! I made these Vanilla Protein Kinder Pancakes for breakfast as a nic ebalanced treat. Yes I ate chocolate in the morning but hey, it was good so that’s all that matters. 

When I was in Berlin I grabbed a Mint Chocolate Pulsin bar and I’m so mad at myself for not getting more! It’s by fr my dbaorite bar other than questbars of course! I had it for snack long side my trusty Kombucha! 


Overnight oats topped with soya yogurt, blueberries and apricots! Oh! and hemp seeds! 

Five thing I did this week

My skin color got a bit of color and I caught up on my weekly podcast favorites! I religiously listen to Maddy Moon and Miss Skinny Genes


I came back from Berlin after a weekend away


Met a beautiful friend in Paris for coffee

Weighed myself and realized I got to my goal weight finally!!

Started #journeytosplits with blogilates!

    Coming home for the summer has been one of the greatest things to happen to me all year. I cannot wait for you to experience it as well! I also admire your determination for NOT falling back into old habits. I was definitely scared of that upon arriving back home. This is where my eating disorder began, and I was worried I would fall back into the trap of it all. However, I didn’t! And I know you won’t as well because you are a strong young lady, capable of amazing things. <3 That picture of Berlin is stunning! I adore al lot the architecture out there, so I am loving the pictures you post of it all.

    CONGRATULATIONS on hitting the goal weight. I know it must not have been easy to go through the gaining weight process, but I just want you to know how vibrant you’ve become. You are treating yourself well, and that is the best possible thing.

    As for your question, if I have not built up a tolerance and it is my first time headed out in the sun, I burn like crazy. Thankfully, living in San Diego, I have learned how to take care of my skin and now I tan in a healthy manner. 🙂

      I’m so jealous of how much sun action you get during the year! I’m usually lucky for a couple weeks in Canada. That being said we’re having a record high week here in Paris!
      Thank you for the comments Julia, you have no idea how big of an inspiration you are/were when I was first attempting recovery. Have a fun weekend with your family! You deserve it!
      I actually have two tattoos but the one of my front that you can see is my mothers handwriting. I asked her to write our quote that we’ve always said to each other “I will always love you ” on a piece of paper, and then I surprised her by getting it tattooed on me ! My other one if on my shoulder and says “without struggle there is no progress” which is what I live by. Every hardship that I’ve gone through has only led to a positive ending. <3
